'27 Hiboy on '32 Rails

What we have done here is taken a set of '32 Ford stamped rails (11 gauge) and removed the tail section like we do on our A Plus chassis.  We have designed a new tail section that will allow the installation of  either a 9" Ford rear housing, Corvette rear or a Jaguar rear.  The rails have been modified in the front, they have been lowered and flattened so the the top of the chassis is flat which means that there will be no need to cut up your body to make it look correct.  We have contoured the rails so they follow the body of the '27 T.  Our rails are jig mounted so when we weld them, the movement of the metal has been controlled.  We build a center tubular cross member from 1  1/2" O.D. 11 gauge P&O tubing that has a removable transmission mount.  After the rails have been welded and ground and the cross member has been built, we then assemble the frame in our frame fixture.  The frame fixture is leveled using electronic stuff and the rails are leveled both vertically and horizontally using the same electronic stuff.  the rails are tack welded to the fixture so they don't move during the assemble and welding.

After the center cross member is tacked in place we tack in the front cross member  (stamped 7  gauge) and the rear tie bar along with the rear 1  1/2"x1  1/2"x 3/16" wall coil over bar.  We place the engine/transmission combination in place and tack in the engine mounts and transmission mount.  The rear suspension is put in place and tacked.  Then the master cylinder mount and the Vega steering box mount are placed and tacked.  A front axle, either 46" or 48" whichever you are using, is installed and we tack on the front shock towers and the hangers for the front 4 bar or hairpins, whichever you choose.   Now we finally get to TIG weld it togethe.

As you'll notice all of our frames are in  bare steel, not painted or powdered coated.  I feel that you are not going to receive the frame in color so I am not going to show our frames in color.  We at LRS choose to use domestic nuts and bolts.  We don't use materials from over seas,  just those that are made here in the USA.  More expensive but its the way we want it.  Men and women are protecting our country and paying a heavy price to do so, I will not dishonor them by using a bolt that's 75 cents cheaper!
